Bad news Aladdin fans, producer Dan Lin has insisted that the upcoming sequel with Will Smith wont be a remake of The Return Of Jafar.

Although there are plans in place for a follow-up to Disneys live-action take on the 1992 animated classic – which starred Mena Massoud in the title role and Naomi Scott playing Princess Jasmine – the producer has confirmed the upcoming second movie will be the teams own take rather than a retread of the 1994 direct-to-video sequel.

We are talking about where the story can go but, without revealing too much, were looking at doing it the same way as the first movie where we arent doing a straight remake, said Lin.

Were exploring lots of different ways that we can go but certainly, fans are saying, “we want to see more of these characters,” but they want to see the next adventure.
