Coronation Street has confirmed that Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is set to have another romantic disaster next week when she makes a pass at James Bailey (Nathan Graham) – only to be rejected and discover that the young footballer is gay.
Soap boss Iain MacLeod announced James sexuality at the time of his casting but he has yet to come out to anyone due to his fear on how it might impact on his football career. After a near dalliance with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), Bethany ends up spending time with James.
And when she misconstrues his friendly affection for more and moves in for a kiss, he opens up to her about his sexuality. But will she support him and encourage him to open up to his family?
The soap has revealed brand new pictures of the interaction on its preview website, attaching captions to the imagery which tease: Ed spots that James has an admirer in Bethany and tries to convince him to ask her out on a date!
Later, the boys lead Ed back to the house and Aggie has a present for him. What will he think of the surprise party with all their neighbours? With the party in full swing, James offers a glum looking Bethany a shoulder to cry on.
But when she leans in for a kiss James reveals that hes gay. How will Bethany react?
