EastEnders star Jake Wood is set to take a break from the soap next year so that he can take his wildly popular boxing podcast Pound For Pound on tour in a series of live shows. The actor and sports enthusiast, who plays Max Branning in the programme, will be off screen for a while next year while the actor works with and his best mate, ex European Super Bantamweight Champion Spencer Oliver to bring their chart topping podcast to a live show.
Beginning at the Old Town Hall, High Wycombe on 19th January 2019 and concluding at Londons York Hall on 22nd February 2019, Pound for Pound: The Live Show will take in an initial 14 dates.
It is described as a hilarious, no holds barred evening and will see Jake and Spencer recall the most memorable fights from the recent history of boxing, discuss the current headlines and biggest controversies of the sport, and tell never before heard tales from the unpredictable world of boxing.
And they may also have some tales or two about some of their podcast guests from Gary Lineker and Chris Eubank to Piers Morgan and Ray Winstone. For boxing fans, its certainly one to put in the diaries and if its anything as fun and engaging as the podcast, which is regularly the top of Apples sports podcasts and boasts over 20,000 downloads a week, then ticket holders are in for a treat.
As for where this leaves Max and his wife Rainie, who knows? But with Jake not filming from the start of the year, it seems likely that Max may leave our screens a little bit later into the start of 2019.
An EastEnders spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: Jake will be taking some time off early next year but he will return to filming after a short time away.
Good news all round then.
Tickets go on sale from 10am on Friday 28th September on the podcasts official website.
