Coronation Street bosses arent just bringing back Jim and Liz McDonalds supposedly dead daughter Katie – theyre also giving her a brand new name.
Corrie fans have been heatedly debating the move ever since the news leaked that Jim would be returning to the cobbles with daughter Katie in tow. Liz believes that Katie died after being prematurely born years ago. The news was originally revealed by The Sun.
Australian actress Hannah Ellis Ryan has been cast in the part and it looks like shes very busy on set.
Kate Ford, who plays Tracy Barlow on Corrie, tweeted a photograph from set of her and brand new co-star.
So pleased to be filming with the new girl on the block, wrote Kate. And eagle eyed fans spotted that shed added Playing Hannah!
Yes, Katie McDonald, who survived and moved to Australia with her adopted parents, is now named Hannah. And it looks like some of her earliest scenes will include Tracy, who is currently engaged to Hannahs brother, Steve. Hannahs arrival is reported to be a big part of father Jims return story.
Will it be a happy reunion for the McDonalds? Well, apart from the shock of Hannahs existence, it also seems that Jim will be holding a grudge against Steve.
Speaking previously about the arc to Metro.co.uk, former Corrie boss Kate Oates said: We have some amazing stuff with Jim McDonald. Hes going to be coming back with a lot of resentment because of what Steve did – from his point of view, he has been rotting in prison and no-one cares.
Will Hannah be welcomed into the McDonald fold? Or will Jim have other plans? Fans wont have to wait much longer to see.
